A Final Shot - Part 1
Date: 17 July 2003, 1:47 AM
.Intro. The war is won. A planet is decimated. The people of earth no longer fear the Covenant. For one man has changed their hopes to the end of the war. A lone man, bred to protect earth. He has seen war, and over come it time and time again. But that is not to say that he has not felt the affects of war more than any. This one war alone has taken everything from him. Friends gone, family gone. With such little left, what could drive a man to continue the fight? Revenge. It is no longer become a fight for life. That fight is in him already. And that is where our story will pick up. Just hours after Johns defeating the Covenant he has need massive surgery for all that he has lost.
.Doctor. What happened to this man?
.Solider. Plasma Sword got him.
.Doctor. I don't know what we will be able to do. But we will save as much as we can.
.Scene. The sight is a gruesome one at best. Just as the Covenant were taking off, a lone elite attacked 117 from behind. With one cool in mind, and that was to kill him. But little did his attacker know, 117 noticed him coming at him. And as the sword swung high he ducked, spun around, and caught it in the arm before shooting the last Covenant on earth. Now rushed to the hospital they will attempt to save what they can of him. Blood loss a minimum; do to the burning of the plasma, scorching the blood vessels. His armor tough to be removed, but is needed off in order to save what they can.
.Doctor. This doesn't look good. His best chance is a loss of the limb.
.Nurse. I'll call Doctor Rogers in.
.Doctor. No, it'll take to long. I imagine that he needs to get out of here soon. My only choice is to take of the rest of the arm and hope for the best.
.Nurse. I'll inform the others he came in with.
.Scene. There sitting at a table the only four who were willing to bring John in. All looking as if they knew of John's situation.
.Nurse. I'm sorry boys. He is gonna have to lose his arm.
.Solider. Can't we stick him in a F.B.R.T.?
.Nurse. Excuse me?
.Solider 2. Full Body Rejuvenation Tank, mam. And no we cant. The cov upgraded their technology, which means we have yet to find a solution to the new plasma injuries.
.Scene. Night passes and John slowly wakes, unsure of where he is. Confusion soon spread to panic and he realizes his right arm is shorter than it use to be.
.John. What the hell is going on!?
.Scene. A calm relaxing voice fills the room, it is the one voice John trusts more than any.
.Cortona. Relax, I'll explain everything to you.
.John. Where is my arm? Where am I?
.Cortona. You must relax John. You were injured when an Elite attacked you from behind. You lost your arm when its sword struck you. We took you to the local hospital.
.John. Whose we?
.Scene. In walk the four soldiers that had brought John in.
.Cortona. Without them you'd still be passed out along some road.
.John. I guess I owe you all a thanks.
.Cortona. You owe them more than that John. They saved your life from a patrolling tank. You could have been killed.
.Scene. The doors to the hospital burst open, and a young man dashes down the hall. Passing the check-in desk, past security, all the way right to Johns rooms.
.Solider. What the hell boy? You look like you've seen the Covenant return.
.Young Man. Close enough sir. (Looking over to John) They need you back at HQ right away.
.Cortona. Do you not see the state he is in? He'll be lucky if he can pick up a gun again.
.Scene. Before Cortona could finish her sentence John had already jumped up and was ready to go. The four soldiers help put his helmet and chest protector on. Cortona all the while telling John he needed his rest.
.John. I am a solider, not a patient.
.Scene. The young man led them back to a warthog, and drove them off to HQ. Not knowing why he was need, but only that he was. John was ready to go. Arm or no arm. Just after a short while the Warthog has come to a halt and the six make their way inside. All to the gasp and excitement of what was left of the UNSC troops in the area.
.Young Man. Sir! I have brought back 117.
.General. Good man, dismissed.
.Scene. The young man walks off leaving the just John and the soldiers who brought him in.
.General. You are dismissed boys.
.John. They're with me. And they are gonna hear this.
.General. Very well. I understand that you have lost a lot in this war 117. As of recent your arm. How would like to give them a little payback for that arm? How would you like to bring an end to all that you've seen?
.John. Get to the point.
.General. I want you to go to the Covenant home world and destroy what they have left. You and the entire UNSC will take the fight to them this time.
.John. You expect a one armed man, and 30,000 men to take out the entire planet. Did you not see what the Covenant brought to us? They have weapons we can barley imagine. And still you want us to take them out with a few bullets.
.General. If that's your view of things so be it. But to answer your question, yes. You see, we've captured a bit of Covenant technology that they don't have any match to.
.Scene. A large screen behind the general turns on, and shows an image of a Covenant stealth ship crashing to the ground.
.General. They made the mistake of passing through our sensors before they could reactivate their stealth. We shot them down instantly and took what was inside.
.Cortona. And what was inside that makes you think we can win this war?
.General. I'm glad you asked.
.Scene. In rolls a large black suit.
.General. Meet the newest form of Covenant technology. The strength to crumble a building in a single blow, and the ability to walk past any sensor. Throw that in with a shield not even to tanks missiles cant break through and you got yourself the newest suit. And we want you to wear it John.
.John. And my arm?
.General. I'll have out robotics team find a way to create a new one for you.
.Cortona. John, this doesn't seem like the best of ideas.
.John. Cortona, with all due respect, you never know when to keep your mouth closed do you? The covenant has taken to much from me. It's my turn to take everything from them. General, I'm in.
A Final Shot - Part 2
Date: 18 July 2003, 3:36 AM
.Scene. John has just been shown what he hopes the last fight against the Covenant. Even though Cortona opposed to the very idea John accepted this mission and is now suiting up. The recent fight has taken an arm from John and the UNSC is working feverishly to build him a new one. But that's not the only new thing for John. From a new suit to a few new untested goodies, John has some prep to do.
.John. And how do I know how the suit works?
.General. We're hoping you can help us with that part.
.John. All right, lets put it on.
.Scene. Cortona disables the old armor, making it so it can be removed. Without it John feels alone, and uneasy. But as soon as it is taken off on goes the new one. But unlike the old armor this new and improved armor puts little weight on John. Its sleek black look makes John stand out like a sore thumb. Like a jumpsuit it covers his entire body in a tight yet stretchy material.
.John. Someone want to tell me how Cortona is going to fit in here?
.Scientist. Easy, we've hooked up a small device that will make it possible for her to be part of the suit.
.Scene. John looking into the back of the mask like helmet sees little prongs sticking out from the back.
.John. And these are?
.Scientist. Oh I didn't say? Not only will she be part of the suit, she'll also be part of you now.
.Scene. John uneasy of the idea pulls the helmet on. The prongs sliced into the back of his skin, as blood trickled down his back.
.Cortona. John can you hear me?
.John. Yes.
.Cortona. I just want to protest how much I am against this John.
.John. Just tell me if you can figure out how this suit works.
.Cortona. You should be more concerned with you arm than me.
.John. Yes or No?
.Cortona. Yes.
.John. Good. (Turning to the General) She can do it.
.General. Good, now all we need is to get you an arm.
.Scientist. Give us a day, and we will have you a new one.
.General. You hear that? 24 hours and you're out of here.
.John. Well I guess I got some work to do. General will you show me those new weapons you were talking about.
.General. Right this way.
.Scene. Lying on a table were new toys John had never seen before. Each looking better than the last. On the left side of the table lay a large shotgun. The only problem was this shotgun seemed to have a joint in the middle.
.General. That would be the newest module. There's no kickback, plus it has a twenty round clip.
.John. No kickback?
.General. Here, see for yourself. It auto loads so just stick the clip in.
.Scene. The General hands John a clip and the gun. In pops the chip and the auto takes affect. John looking for a target, with none in site he points it to a wall and fires. The shotgun spins back where the joint was, almost striking John. The fired shell pops out as the gun spins down, and the new one slides into place.
.General. All the energy of the kickback is used in the reloading of the gun itself. This gives the gun more accuracy along with a more dangerous scatter. But you need your rest. So off to bed. You can play with your new guns, and get a quick overview of your team tomorrow before brush off.
.John. Team? I work alone.
.General. Not for where you're goin you don't.
.Scene. Despite his wish to try out the new suit, he wanted to sleep some. Not sure of what the new suit could do he was careful around what he did. Ever so careful to touch a door, to lift something, he had to make sure he didn't do any damage. Little did he know Cortona had already tapped into the suit and figured out most of the workings.
.Cortona. John, you don't need to be so easy on things.
.John. I don't want to break anything, I don't know what the new suit can do.
.Cortona. The strength is only activated through adrenalin. Once your brain sends out that signal the suit multiplies it as many times as it takes. That is why you could destroy a building in one punch. So just go to bed, you need it.
.Scene. Believing she was right that he needed sleep, John just headed off to bed. With a simple goodnight to Cortona, John went off to bed. The night was long and good for John. Upon waking up he felt like the suit wasn't on. It felt as if he was the suit. Making his way to the launching bay, and meeting the General, John wanted to see how strong he really was. Seeing a large cargo trunk down the hall, that looked as if it was the perfect test. Sizing it up, it looked to be a ton or two. Wrapping his arms around the large crate he can barley lift it at first. But just as Cortona said the adrenalin kicked in and the crate began to move. Not sure how far he could lift it, he decided to drop it. What he didn't know was that the crate landed right on his foot. But there was no problem, the crate instead of breaking his foot, dented around it. This didn't bother him, all he had to do was move his foot out from under it.
.Intercom. 0800, Launch in T-30 minutes.
.Cortona. John, lets get to launch before it's to late.
.Scene. John darts down the hall, almost taking the doors off the hinges as he bursts through them.
.General. Where the hell have you been!? Get in the ship now! You'll have to be briefed in-flight.
.John. What kind of ship is that?
.General. A phoenix 34-9. Again you'll be briefed in-flight.
.Scene. The ship looked magnificent. Sleek and heavily armored. John knew that there wasn't going to be some drop point with this ship. It was going to take them deep into the heart of the Covenant. And he was ready for a fight coming to them.
